Consumer Prices Rise 3.1% In October

CONSUMER PRICES RISE 3.1% IN OCTOBER

The state statistics service has concluded its work on consumer prices
for October. Results show that prices continue to rise, as they did
in September. The combined price rise for the two months is 3.8%.

Compared to September, October’s prices rose 3.1%.

These rises included food products (including alcoholic beverages
and tobacco), at 5.6%, non-food products, at 0.7%, with the service
industry at 0.1%.

Bread and flour, as well as vegetable oil and butter, raised at
1.7%. Without these price rises, the consumer price index for October,
as compared to September, stood at 1.4%. From January to September
of 2007, consumer prices rose an average of 0.3%. October of this
year, compared to last year, the consumer price index was 105.7%,
which was made up of food products, at 109.2%, non-food products at
99.0%, service industries at 103.2%, yet compared to the same period
in January-October 2006, the figures stand at 103.9%, 105.2%, 99.0%,
and 104.4%.

Comparing September to October, in cities in the entire republic,
consumer prices rose from 2.0% to 3.6%, with prices in the capital
city seeing the sharpest rises.
