"Besides the region of Shahumyan, the African plague was
detected in all the other regions of the country," said the chief
vet of the country Tigran Arustamyan in an interview with the
Karabakh-Open.com. The disease affects wild and domestic animals and
cannot be cured or prevented. The sick stock should be destroyed. He
also said the sick animals are destroyed by special groups which also
deal with quarantine.
"According to the legislation, in case the virus is detected, the
whole stock should be destroyed, but this approach poses threat to
pig breeding in our country. Therefore, we urge people to keep healthy
cattle in enclosed areas," Tigran Arustamyan says.
The head vet says people need not fear eating pork because it is not
dangerous for man, besides the pork sold in shops is checked.
