San Gabriel Valley ANC Hosts Major Town Hall Event with ANCA National
Chairman Ken Hachikian

Montebello, CA – Grassroots supporters of the Armenian National Committee
came out in large numbers on November 1, 2007 to hear from ANCA National
Chairman Ken Hachikian at a town hall event held in Montebello, California.
The town hall meeting, hosted by the San Gabriel Valley ANC Chapter, was
held at the local Community Center and attracted over 200 individuals.

"We are proud that our grassroots supporters in the Montebello area came out
in force to hear from ANCA Chairman Ken Hachikian," commented San Gabriel
Valley ANC Chairman Viken Pakradouni. "The ANC is pleased to host town hall
meetings with national leaders like Ken. We have both a responsibility and
obligation to our community to educate them on our efforts both locally and
in Washington, DC. We also want to clearly hear from our supporters on the
issues they care about and give them an opportunity to directly interact
with our ANCA leaders," Pakradouni added.

In his remarks to the town hall attendees, the ANCA Chairman focused his
comments on the pending Armenian Genocide resolution and the organization’s
efforts to advance economic development in the Republic of Armenia. He also
addressed the ANCA’s effort in support of securing self-determination for
the freedom loving people of Nagorno-Karabagh. Longtime ANCA leader Seto
Boyadjian also addressed the crowd and encouraged them to become more active
in the political challenges facing the Armenian American community.

"Clearly, we are succeeding in bringing the energy, talent and intellect
that was present at this town hall meeting in Montebello to our nation’s
capital," Hachikian remarked after the event. "Everything we secure –
whether justice on the genocide issue or developmental aid to a blockaded
Armenia, will be the result of what we, each and everyone of us, have
petitioned our government for," Hachikian stressed.

Ken Hachikian has been national chairman of the ANCA for six years. He
holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and a BA in
Economics from Harvard University. Hachikian has been active in the
Armenian American community for decades, having begun his leadership in the
community by serving as a member of the Armenian Youth Federation’s Central
Executive in the 1970s.

The San Gabriel Valley Armenian National Committee is part of the largest
and most influential Armenian American grassroots public affairs
organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a
network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United
States and affiliated organizations around the country, this local ANC
chapter promotes awareness of issues of concern to the Armenian American
community.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
