journalists at the end of her visit. US ambassador expressed her
satisfaction with her first visit to Nakhchivan.
"I wondered at historical monuments of Nakhchivan, especially Momina
Khatun tomb. My visit aimed at being informed about Nakhchivan,
getting acquainted with the situation here," she said.
Ann Derse said that her visit had nothing common with exhibition held
in Harvard University of US on the theme of "Armenian monuments in
Nakhchivan" conducted by Armenian professors.
"I promise that I will visit Nakhchivan again," she said.
The ambassador mentioned that Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and
Azerbaijani Embassy in US expressed their protest on the above-said
exhibition.
"I understand anxiety of Nakhchivan population. But I can recommend
that the only way out of this situation is to bring just facts into
agenda," she said.
Ann Derse also touched upon presidential elections to be held in 2008.
"These elections are very useful opportunity in transitional period of
Azerbaijan to democracy. Strong Azerbaijan is a good partner of US,"
