First Woman Deputy Speaker Of The National Assembly Of Armenia

FIRST WOMAN DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ARMENIA

Two women are contending for the post of the deputy speaker of the
National Assembly. They are the chair of the Committee of Human Rights
and Public Affairs Arevik Petrosyan from the Bargavach Hayastan Party,
and Anahit Bakshyan, member of the Heritage Party.

Arevik Petrosyan was nominated by the secretary of the Bargavach
Hayastan faction Aram Safaryan. According to him, the education
of the candidate and her experience in government agencies fully
meet the requirements for the post of the deputy speaker. Heghine
Bisharyan, Orinats Yerkir Party, had nominated Hranush Hakobyan from
the Republican faction. She said Hranush Hakobyan has Ph.D. and a
considerable experience in parliament. However, Hranush Hakobyan
withdrew.

Anahit Bakshyan was nominated by the Heritage faction. The leader
of the Heritage faction Raffi Hovannisian stated after nominating
Anahit Bakshyan she has a considerable experience of teacher and is
an active citizen of her country.
