NKR President Has Meetings With Representatives Of Armenian Communit

NKR PRESIDENT HAS MEETINGS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF ARMENIAN COMMUNITY AND BUSINESSMEN IN NEW YORK

NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. NKR President Bako Sahakian,
who is in New York on the occasion of the telethon of the Hayastan
All-Armenian Fund, on November 11, met with Armen Martirosian, the Head
of the Permanent Armenian Representation in NATO, in the Permanent
Representation. The latter presented the work done by the mission
headed by him, as well as the latest developments proceeding in UN,
in particular, in the issue of settlement of conflicts. Both parties
mentioned the necessity of close cooperation between the diplomatic
missions of Armenia in U.S. and NKR Permanent Representation.

A number of issues related to the Nagorno Karabakh settlement were
discussed during the conversation, in which Tatul Margarian, the
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to U.S., also
took part. Touching upon the negotiations process, B. Sahakian, in
particular, said that at present the OSCE Minsk Group’s format is the
best variant of conflict settlement. The NKR President at the same
time emphasized that it is impossible to solve that problem without
NKR’s full-value participation.

The same day B. Sahakian met with a number of Armenian businessmen
residing in New York, headed by entrepreneur Raffi Meghrian. Prospects
of implementation of different programs in Nagorno Karabakh, in
particular, in the sphere of carpet making, were discussed during
the meeting. B. Sahakian highly evaluated R. Meghrian’s contribution
in the sphere of carpet making in Artsakh and mentioned that the NKR
authorities will continue to support that sphere’s development.

The NKR President also met with Archbishop Oshakan Choloyan, the leader
of the Armenian Apostolic Church’s U.S. East Coast’s Cilician Diocese,
and representatives of the Armenian community in New York. The meeting
took place at the national residence of the Cilician Diocese. A
number of economic and political issues were discussed at the
meeting. Archbishop Oshakan Choloyan called those present for taking
an active part in the process of NKR development and restoration,
stressing that the fate of all Armenians is decided in Artsakh.

The same day the NKR President handed the medal Gratitude to the family
of renowned benefactor, Artsakh’s friend Sargis Hakobian. It should
be mentioned that the medal was given to S. Hakobian posthumously,
for his assistance provided to Artsakh.

As Noyan Tapan was informed by the General Information Department
under the NKR President, on November 12, the delegation led by the
NKR President left New York for Detroit.
