HIS HOLINESS BLESSES THE CHILDREN AT THE REOPENING
OF THE SUNDAY SCHOOLS

Accompanied by their teachers, the Sunday school students of Antelias
visited His Holiness Aram I in the Veharan on November 11 to receive his
blessings. The children were guided by Rev. Torkom Donoyan and Rev. Ghevont
Pentezian from the Christian Education Department.

The children approached the Catholicos in turn to receive his blessings on
the occasion of the reopening of the Sunday School. They sang some of the
hymns they have studied, receiving the fatherly praise of His Holiness. The
children then sang the Pontifical hymn.

On this occasion the Catholicos highly praised the students, the teachers
and the administration of the Sunday School. He also commended the parents,
who have entrusted their children to the Armenian Church.

Over 100 students participate in the weekly sessions of the Sunday School in
Antelias.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
