BAKO SAHAKYAN MET WITH U.S. HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE

On November 12 NKR President Bako Sahakyan visiting the United States
met with the U.S. House Rep. Joe Knollenberg. The representative
congratulated Bako Sahakyan on his election, and the people of
Karabakh on holding a democratic and transparent election. Knollenberg
underlined that democracy in Karabakh should be promoted.
It was emphasized that a peace settlement of the Karabakh issue should
be reached, and Nagorno-Karabakh should be involved in the talks as
a full-right member. For his part, the NKR president appreciated the
humanitarian aid the United States provides to NKR and said it is
time to shift focus on investments. In this connection, Bako Sahakyan
emphasized the importance of education and health projects.
On the same day the president had a number of meetings with the
representatives of the Armenian community of Detroit. The meetings
took place at St. Sargis Church, John Baptist Church, the Armenian
Evangelist Church, as well as Alex and Marie Manoogian School.
The General Information Department of the president administration
reported that on the same day the delegation led by the president
had visited Boston.
