YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. 199 cases connected with the
parliamentary elections were examined at RA courts as of August 1
this year.
As Karen Andreasian, a representative of the Association of American
Lawyers, the initiator of the monitoring of judicial solution to
electoral arguments, said at the November 15 press conference, 188
out of them are civil cases handed over for examination of courts of
general competence.
Besides, 7 cases of calling to criminal and 1 case of calling to
administrative liability were examined and 3 cases were handed over
for Constitutional Court’s examination.
The author of the most part of application-complaints submitted to the
court during the election campaign is Ruben Torosian, the Chairman of
the Supreme Council Deputy Club NGO. However, as K. Andreasian said,
in this case the quantity did not turn into the quality, as only 4
out of 108 applications submitted by R. Torosian were sustained.
K. Andreasian said that the organization Legal Initiative: Elections
– 2007 created by a number of NGOs in 2006 actively supported
electors by providing them free legal consultation by the hot line
(080-080-804). It was mentioned that the hot line connected with the
2008 presidential elections will operate between January 15 to March 1.
