ANTELIAS BOOKFAIR FEATURES HIGH STUDENT TURNOUT

The 29th annual Armenian bookfair launched on November 18 by His Holiness
Aram I became the meeting place of Armenian students over the last few
weeks.

The Armenian schools of Lebanon organized group visits of their students to
Antelias, where the new Armenian generations came in close contact with
Armenian books.

All students, those of junior and senior classes, approached the books with
great interest. Particularly elementary students found a rich collection of
books they could read in addition to their Armenian language textbooks.

A special section has been dedicated to children’s literature in the
exhibition. It is specially decorated to attract the attention of children
to books suitable to their own age.

Emil Lazarian

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
