Consumer Prices Grow By 5.1% In Armenia In November 2007 On December

CONSUMER PRICES GROW BY 5.1% IN ARMENIA IN NOVEMBER 2007 ON DECEMBER 2006

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The rise in prices of butter,
vegetable oil, bread and flour contributed to an overall inflation
of 4.53% in Armenia in November 2007 on December 2006. Without price
changes in the indicated commodity groups, the consumer price index
would have made 100.6% instead of 105.1% in the first eleven months
of this year.

A 2.1% inflation was registered in Armenia’s consumer market in
November on October 2007. According to the RA National Statistical
Service, prices of foodstuffs (including alcoholic drinks and
cigarettes) grew by 3% in the indicated period, prices of non-food
commodities fell by 1.2%, while tariffs of services grew by 0.9%.

A considerable increase in prices of bread, flour, butter and vegetable
oil was registered in the country. These foodstuffs make up 13.91%
of the consumer basket and contributed the growth of consumer prices
by 0.13% to 2.1%.

The average monthly fall in consumer prices made 0.5% in
January-November 2007 against the 0.2% growth in the same period of
last year.

The consumer price index made 106.8% in November 2007 on November
2006, including the consumer price index of food commodities
(including alcoholic drinks and cigarettes) – 110.4%, of non-food
commodities – 101.1%, of service tariffs – 103.6%. The same indices
in January-November 2007 on January-November 2006 made 104.2%, 105.7%,
99.2% and 104.3% respectively.
