With its viewpoint on the Armenian Genocide the Bush Administration
proved that Turkey may do in the USA whatever it wants and no one
will ever say a word.

A single word about the events of 1915-1923, recognized by the
entire civilized world as Genocide, may cause big hysteria among the
Turks. In the USA, the war against the recognition of the issue is
carried out in all levels, starting from the Bush Administration and
ending with Hollywood.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "The fund for the struggle against ungrounded
accusations of Genocide" (ASÝMED) has started sending e-mails addressed
to Mel Gibson, trying to talk the actor out of performing in the film
dedicated to the Armenian Genocide.

According to ASÝMED President Turkish historian Savaþ Eðilmez,
the Armenian Diaspora has offered Hollywood $100 million for the
creation of the movie about the Armenian Genocide. "Several Hollywood
companies prepare to shoot a film, where the Armenian point of view
is represented. Mel Gibson has already been offered a role in a film
like this. The movie may be created by Icon Productions, whose partner
is Mel Gibson," said Eðilmez.

Together with this, the Turkish historian reminded that Sylvester
Stallone was also intending to make a film based on the book by Franz
Werfel "Forty Days of Musa Dagh". "However we sent him more than
3000 e-mails and he gave up this idea. The European Press has also
started to have some doubts about the truthfulness of the book. We have
started sending Gibson documents about the real order of events. We
are sending e-mails warning that if Mel Gibson doesn’t refuse to play
this role in the movie, his company may suffer greatly. What we are
doing is the answer to the new slanderous campaign, which was the
case with the "Midnight Express". We must put pressure on the famous
actor and explain him what had happened in real," emphasized Eðilmez.

The activeness of the Turkish lobby in the USA and Europe brings us to
think that it is quite possible that the U.S. Congress, together with
some European countries and the Great Britain in particular will call
things by their proper names. However, what the most astonishing thing
in this entire story is the exceptional impudence and confidence of
the Turks that the whole world will be dancing to Turkey’s tune. With
its viewpoint on the Armenian Genocide the Bush Administration proved
that Turkey may do in the USA whatever it wants and no one will ever
say a word.

Turks have started to attack violently everyone who qualifies the
events of 1915 as Genocide. However, Turkey ignores a very important
fact; the U.S.

strategic interests in the Middle East and in Turkey are only
the interests of the Administration, or to be more exact, of the
Republican Party. The Democrats are of quite different viewpoint
regarding the issue of the Armenian Genocide. Perhaps the reason is
that the Republicans are more tied with the Iraqi oil and the ideas
regarding the establishment of the independent Kurdistan.

The case with Mel Gibson, reminds of another movie actor Antonio
Banderas, who was offered the role of Kemal Ataturk in a film dedicated
to the life and activities of the "father of the Turkish Nation."

Baderas then refused and the role of the Armenian Diaspora in his
denial was not unnoticeable. The Armenian Diaspora didn’t use any
threats or blackmails, but provided some documents which revealed
the real face of Ataturk.

The story with Mel Gibson, if he gives way to the Turkish blackmail may
also become an example for other Hollywood stars. However, there is
a hope that he will follow Omar Sharif, who isn’t allowed to Turkey
after his role in the film "Mayrig". However, it is very unlikely
that this story will ever have any end.

Turkey’s future actions are not hard to guess: they are certainly going
to speak against publishers, historians, and writers or against anyone
who will dare to tell the truth. Meanwhile it is worth mentioning
that in the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs none of those who
voted against Resolution 106 doubted that it has indeed been genocide.
