ArmInfo. Nagornyy Karabakh former foreign minister, the president’s
advisor Arman Melikyan is going to run for the Armenian president,
Melikyan said of his intention at today’s press-conference in Urbat
club.
He also added that today he applied to the NKR President Bako Sahakyan
to resign from the post of the president’s advisor. He explained his
decision by the fact that at present he seriously worries about the
position of the main participants in the forthcoming presidential
election in Armenia. ‘I decided to run for president to try to lessen
such danger in some sense’, – Melikyan said. He preferred not to
speak about his chances at the presidential election. ‘Anyway, my
position is unchangeable – there is no need to return territories
for construction of a norman state [security zone], and there is
no need to have the corrupted state system so that not to return
these territories’, – Melikyan said. He will not have a slogan or
placards over the election campaign. ‘I don’t want to bureaucratize
the process,’ – he explained and added that tomorrow he is going to
prepare papers necessary for registration as a candidate for president.
