The RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan met the Minister
of Foreign affairs of Estonia Urmas Paet in Estonia.
Minister Paet underlined that Estonia was interested in maintaining and
developing bilateral relations in various fields. Mr Oskanyan ensured
that Armenia was willing to intensify collaboration in various fields,
taking into account present capacity, historical relations of the
two nations and mutual sympathy.
The ministers discussed the opportunities of stimulating economic
cooperation, pointing out IT technologies and truism, as primary
fields. In this regard, the parties talked about establishing
inter-governmental committee.
The parties also prioritized the expansion of legal agreements between
the two countries, which would promote extending and reinforcement
of bilateral relations. Particularly, the ministers underlined
"encouragement of investments and mutual protection" between the two
countries and the necessity of signing Readmission Agreements.
Reflecting on the EU Action Plan under the European Neighbourhood
Policy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia expressed the
readiness of his country to share the experience of Estonia for
the access to various European structures. Then, Minister Oskanyan
presented the current programs of Armenia’s cooperation with the EU
and NATO.
During the meeting the parties reflected on the regional developments,
as well as Armenia’s relations with neighboring countries. Mr Oskanyan
presented the current process of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
At the end of the meeting Mr Oskanyan invited his partner to Armenia.
After the meeting the parties signed a memorandum on "Issues for
European Integration Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Estonia"
and held a joint press conference.
The same day, Minister Oskanyan met The First Deputy Speaker of the
Estonian Parliament Kristiina Ojuland.
