YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The People’s Party calls all
political forces for rather speaking about their programs and
tasks in the preelection period than being engaged in criticism,
especially in the language of compromising facts. Tigran Karapetian,
the Chairman of the People’s Party, stated at the November 30 press
conference. According to him, no collision of ideas is proceeding
at present, and politicians are engaged only in criticizing one
another. "It is clear that the former and current authorities had
mistakes, but everyday talks about it should be stopped," the party
Chairman said.
As T. Karapetian evaluated, the opposition should be not extremist
but constructive. At the same time, according to him, the authorities
should also provide favorable conditions for creating a constructive
field. In his opinion, carrying out a harsh struggle in the political
sphere is impermissible, as politicians cannot be guided by the
principle of exterminating one another. "If society reaches the degree
when those moral limits are not kept by any side, then this is not
politics, but a quarrel," T. Karapetian said. In this circumstance,
according to him, the authorities and the opposition fight for the
sake of power and not people.
"The most part of the people does not accept the extreme opposition
of political forces. If it goes on like this, these extremist forces
will remain in the country, and the people will choose those being
in the middle, that is, the centripetal forces," he said.
