Bedford, Massachusetts this week became the second municipality in two
weeks to end ties with the Anti Defamation League (ADL) following the
decision of the ADL’s meeting of its national commissioners to `take no
further action on the issue of the Armenian Genocide,’ reported the
Armenian National Committee of Eastern Massachusetts.

Bedford joined the city of Medford, which also decided to end ties with
the ADL’s No Place for Hate (NPFH) program because of the ADL’s policy
on the Armenian Genocide. Also this month Needham and Newburyport took
steps toward ending their communities’ ties with the ADL.

Over the past few months, other Massachusetts towns including
Watertown, Newton, Westwood, Belmont, Arlington, and Lexington have
withdrawn from the ADL’ s NPFH program, due to the ADL’s policy on the
Armenian Genocide.

The ADL held its national commissioners’ meeting on November 2 at which
time the ADL was expected to formally evaluate its policy on the
Armenian Genocide.
In a one-sentence press statement dated November 2, the ADL announced
that it `decided to take no further action on the issue of the Armenian
genocide.’

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
