The newly appointed Ambassador of Ireland Jeffery Cantor (seat in
Sofia) presented his credentials to President Robert Kocharyan,
President’s Press Office informs.

Congratulating the diplomat on assuming office, the President said
Armenia is interested in further reinforcing and developing the
political and economic dialogue between the two countries.

Robert Kocharyan said the way passed by Ireland and the achievements
of the past years are impressive. Noting that Armenia has assumed
the same way of development, the President said the experience of
Ireland is interesting for Armenia.

The parties were united in the opinion that the modest indices in the
sphere of economy do not correspond to the existing potential. They
emphasized the importance of making better use of the existing
opportunities and improving the contractual-legal field.

The interlocutors turned to the opportunities of cooperation between
the two countries within the framework of the European Neighborhood
Policy.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
