INVESTIGATION UNIT OF STATE CUSTOMS COMMITTEE COMPENSATES MATERIAL DAMAGE OF OVER 12 MILLION DOLLARS TO STATE

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 4, NOYAN TAPAN. Over the past four months,
the Investigation Unit of the RA State Customs Committee (SCC)
has compensated material damage of 12 million 546 thousand drams
(about 41 thousand USD) done to the state. Besides, some sums will be
compensated based on criminal cases. The head of the investigation
unit Tigran Kheranian told reporters on December 4 that 3 criminal
cases against 4 persons have already been completed and sent to the
court of first instance, two criminal cases have been suspended and
the accused persons are being wanted by the police, and one criminal
case was quashed. Investigation into 6 criminal cases is continuing.
T. Kheranian said that the SCC investigation unit started functioning
in June of this year. Until now the unit has prepared 32 materials
on customs violations, as a result of which 12 criminal cases have
been opened.
