The delegation of Trade-Industrial Chamber of Armenia (TICA) and their
Syrian colleagues made similar arrangements during their visit to
Syria last month.
The details of the visit were presented us by the President of TICA

Aleksanian, General Director of "Shengavit" Medical Center and General
Accoucheur of Yerevan Sergey Urumian were also in the delegation.

businessmen were given in that country during the visit.
They met with the local business organizations, representatives of the
Trade-Industrial Chambers of Damascus and Aleppo, also the Primate of
Syria, Minister of Agriculture, the Governor of Aleppo and local
Armenian businessmen.
The meetings aimed at developing Armenian-Syrian economic relations,
as the commodity turnover between the two countries is little at
present – about 2 mln dollars.
The sides reached an agreement about re-qualification of 20 doctors in
the medical center of Sergey Urumian.
TICA President attached a great importance to the agreement about the
export of Armenian anti-hail equipments to Syria.
The Syrian businessmen were also interested in the cooperation in the
sphere of high technologies, especially in the rain-guns.
They also want to acquire sun power stations, as their country has
almost unlimited sunny days – 300 days in year.
It was decided to create a Trade House of Syria in Armenia and vv.
These institutions will study the markets of the countries and present
their countries’ commodities. The President of TICA didn’t exclude
that Armenia may become a regional trade house for Syria.
TICA branch is planned to open in Syria and a Committee of
Armenian-Syrian businessmen is to be created; 12 representatives from
each side.
Aram Vardanian is the president of the committee from the Armenian
side, and Hasan Abdat – from the Syrian side
In 2008, an exhibition of Armenian commodities will be held in
Aleppo. It is also planned to hold an Armenian-Syrian business
conference.
Martin Sargsian informed that cultural events would be held in those
days.
There are about 40 thousand Armenians in Aleppo, who are held in high
respect in Syria. They participated in all the meetings of the
Armenian businessmen.
"Holding Cultural days is also their strong desire", concluded Martin
Sargsian.
