CEC TO INVITE HEADS OF ALL DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS, ACCREDITED IN ARMENIA, AS OBSERVERS

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Secretary of the Central Electoral Commission
(CEC) of Armenia Abraham Bakhchagulian stated in Yerevan today that
the issues of meetings, rallies and speeches of politicians before
the official start of the pre-election campaign are not regulated by
the Electoral Code.
Mediamax reports that Abraham Bakhchagulian reminded that the
registration of candidates will take place from December 31 up to
January 20, and the campaign will officially start on January 21
of 2008.
CEC Secretary stated that the amendments, approved in the Electoral
Code recently, allow securing the electoral right of the disabled. CEC
has taken upon itself the responsibility to help electors with
sight problems in the voting process, and there will be a special
polling station functioning in each electoral area for the disabled
in wheelchairs.
Abraham Bakhchagulian noted that the CEC will invite Heads of all
the diplomatic missions, accredited in Armenia, as observers for the
presidential elections.
