TRAINING COURSE FOR FAMILY DOCTORS ATTENDED BY 80 THERAPEUTISTS, NURSES IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, December 10. /ARKA/. 40 district therapeutists and 40 nurses
attend a training course for family doctors in Yerevan, Chief of the
Department of Healthcare and Social Security of Yerevan Municipality
Armen Saghoyan told journalists. After completion of the course they
will receive qualification of a family doctor, Saghoyan said.
He pointed out that the number of trained district physicians and
paediatricians reached 344 and the number of nurses that had the
training totalled 205 in Yerevan. "The program will continue until
all district therapeutists, paediatricians and nurses are trained,"
Saghoyan said.
Introduction of family doctor institution is to be completed in
Yerevan by 2009.
The decision to finance the institution was adopted by the Armenian
Government on July 15 2004. Family doctor services are to be paid
from the state budget – 1,302 Drams for every adult and 2,800Drams
for every child.
The family doctor institution is introduced in Armenia under WB
loan program for total of $20mln. Under the program, two in-patient
medical institutions of Yerevan – "Surb Grigor Lusavorich" and "Surb
Astvatsamayr" are to be modernized.
