Three Community Development Projects To Be Implemented In Village Of

THREE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN VILLAGE OF YEGHVARD IN SYUNIK MARZ ON INITIATIVE OF UNDP ARMENIA AND MOSCOW-BASED ARMENIAN BUSINESSMAN

MOSCOW, DECEMBER 11, NOYAN TAPAN. Ms. Consuelo Vidal, UN Resident
Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia and Mr. Sergey
Hamdardzumyan, Moscow-based Armenian private entrepreneur, on December
11 signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement projects
addressing the community development needs in Yeghvard village of
Syunik marz, Armenia, NT was informed by the UNDP Armenia Office.

Owing to the projects, Yeghvard village which comprises around 100
households will be provided with an agricultural machinery pool. New
machinery will be acquired to fill up the lack for necessary farming
equipment enabling the rural population to properly cultivate their
owned land plots. Another project will be launched to establish a
revolving wheat seed fund aimed at joining the community efforts
around an income generation opportunity. Also, a flour mill will be
constructed in Yeghvard to meet the high demand for flour grinding
both at this and neighboring communities.

All the activities will be carried out in the scope of the Community
Development Project over the year 2008. Overall funding allocated
for the projects’ implementation makes USD 210,500.
