BLAST AT OFFICE OF CHORORD ISHKHANUTYUN NEWSPAPER

The office of the opposition newspaper Chorord Ishkhanutyun on the
Square of Sakharov was bombed last night. The director of the newspaper
Mher Ghalechyan told News Armenia the blast occurred at 4.30 pm. "The
blast was so powerful that damaged the metal bars of the windows and
the doors," he said.

There was nobody in the office at the time of the explosion, and the
consequences were discovered in the morning. He said the police is
investigating the incident.

Ghalechyan believes that the blast has a political motive. "I think
someone disliked an article in our newspaper and took revenge. We
are a political newspaper, and any similar attempt has a political
context," he said.
