NAGORNO-KARABAKH AND AZERBAIJAN EXCHANGED POWS

On December 12 the government of NKR returned Aliyev Anara Maarif
oghli, an inhabitant of the region of Mir Bashir, Azerbaijan, born
1978, to the Azerbaijani side.
According to the NKR State Commission of POWs and Missing People, the
citizen of Azerbaijan was returned at 14.35 local time at the line of
contact near the village of Bash Karvend, through the representatives
of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The NKR Defense Army soldiers had captured Anar Aliyev on August 2,
2007 while crossing the line of contact near Martakert. The NKR
government provided the Stepanakert office of the ICRC access to
Aliyev who visited him and maintained correspondence with his family
in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani side returned Valery Suleymanyan, an inhabitant of
the town of Martuni, who had been kept in Azerbaijan since April 2007.
