AZERBAIJAN AMONG COUNTRIES OF MOST EXPENSIVE TELEPHONE COMMUNICATION

According to the International Telecommunications Union, the average
cost of a three minute local telephone call over was the highest in
Ecuador-$0.60 per minute in 2006.
The list of ten countries of the most expensive telephone communication
also included Central African Republic, Faroes, Azerbaijan ($0.29),
Vanuatu, Djibouti, Uruguay and Great Britain (0.17$).
Of other countries of the former USSR, the list also included
Lithuania, Latvia and Armenia ($0.11 each), Estonia ($0.09),
Moldova ($0.02), Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
($0.01). The United States took the 59th place for the cost of local
calls ($0.09).
According to the same source, cell phones are most widely spread in
Taiwan (106.45 cell phones per 100 residents) and Italy (101.34).
The list of leaders also includes Luxemburg, Hong Kong, Italy, Iceland,
Sweden, Czechia, Finland, Great Britain and Norway. The United States,
where mobile communication was first invented, occupy the 29th place
(48.8) in this rating, according to Washington Profile.
