Customs Revenues To Reach 209bln In Armenia In 2007

CUSTOMS REVENUES TO REACH 209BLN IN ARMENIA IN 2007

YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. Customs revenues are to reach 209bln AMD
(about $69.185ln) in Armenia this year against the planned 188.1bln
AMD (about $622.66mln).

At a meeting with RA President Robert Kocharyan, Chairman of the RA
Customs Committee Armen Avetisyan reported that a total of 203bln AMD
(about $672mln) had been collected as customs duties by mid-December
2007.

The sides discussed the annual report of Armenia’s customs bodies, as
well as the work to bring the customs clearance process to conformity
with international standards.

Avetisyan reported that about 4bln AMD (about $13.2mln) have been
invested in Armenia’s customs system this year. The system has been
provided with up-to-date equipment.

Avetisyan reported that the modernization of the Bagratashen customs
station is nearing completion as well.

The sides discussed the plans of the RA Customs Committee for next
year, laying emphasis on focusing attention on the risky sectors.
