The first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan stands a good
chance to win the presidential election in February 2008, stated the
leader of the People’s Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan today.

"We witness the rating of the first president grow, and both
pollsters and NGOs point to that," Demirchyan stated. According to
him, Ter-Petrosyan’s main opponent in the presidential election will
be Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan.

"The nomination of the first president is going to be the main intrigue
of the upcoming election. This fact has already become an object of
political trade for many," Demirchyan said. He says his party will
support Ter-Petrosyan all through the election campaign.
