"Bargavach Hayastan" party convened an extended session of the
political council yesterday, in the government conference hall, to
state, de jure, the de facto decision made long before the official
launch of the election process, according to which: "the party will
endorse Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan’s candidacy, during February
19 presidential elections."

By endorsing RPA Leader "Bargavach Hayastan" party proves its
loyalty towards the coalition agreements: "This decision is based
on our devotion to the spirit of the memorandum of cooperation
with the Republican Party, due to which beginning from May 12,
2007 parliamentary elections relations based on mutual respect and
trust have been formed between our parties. It allowed us to make
the activity of the parliament and government more effective and
goal-oriented.

We strongly believe that our united candidate can provide maximum
solution to the problems faced by the country, to maintain the
political stability and to contribute to the country’s economic
development, welfare, and prosperity.

As you know we have signed a coalition memorandum with the Republican
Party after May 12 parliamentary elections, according to which we
must have a united candidate and work together for the victory of
this candidate. We have underscored in our speeches and reports,
that we will be loyal to the document signed by the party and to
our words." This is how Head of "Bargavach Hayastan" party Gagik
Tsarukyan grounded the decision to endorse S.Sargsyan during the
presidential elections.

Coalition agreement is not the only reason of supporting
S.Sargsyan. The positive experience of cooperation with coalition
partners is no less important for "Bargavach Hayastan" party. Besides
that the majority of the program clauses of "Bargavach Hayastan"
party are included in the government’s long-term program, that is why
by endorsing the Prime Minister the party supports their own programs
part of which has already been put into effect.

Minister of Town Building Vardan Vardanyan, PhD of Philology,
Professor Artsrun Avagyan, Aram Isabekyan, PhD of Medical
Sciences, Professor Armen Melikyan and others stressed the Prime
Minister’s indisputable experience and skillfulness in governing,
his professionalism manifested by him in all the previous positions
as well as his absolute devotion to the process of building a state.

Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan first of all expressed his gratitude to
his coalition partners for their trust and promised to do his best to
develop the achievements of the previous years and to create a better
situation in the country during the coming five years, to draw nearer
to the strategic goal of Armenia’s accomplishment.

"Our country has entered the stage of development when the already
recorded achievements oblige us to mobilize our forces, to work
more productively and to be goal-oriented. We are proud of our
achievements, the country’s economic stability, growing economy,
developing science. We are proud, because the problems that seemed
to be impossible to solve are being settled. We are proud because our
state budget is able to allocate money for the implementation of the
programs which seemed to be unreal recently," the Prime Minister said.

Today Armenia is more confident towards its future, but S.

Sargsyan believes: " it is not enough. This situation seemed to
be a dream a decade ago, but today we can’t be satisfied with
them. Lots of things have changed. We have changed; people’s
requirements, opportunities, and expectations have changed. The
people’s anticipations, ambitions, and hopes are quite different at
the moment. They are higher, even their demands from the state have
changed." Consequently there is only one path – to unite the potential
of the nation. To unite in order to build the future of Armenia,
a country where everyone can realize his or her expectations and "
where we can provide an honorable life for each citizen of Armenia,
be it Armenian, Greek, Assyrian, Yizid or Kurdish."

S. Sargsyan also touched upon to forthcoming presidential
elections. "The positive estimation given to the recent parliamentary
elections by the international community was a pleasant surprise for
many people. Through the forthcoming presidential elections we must
prove that it was not an exception but rather a regularity."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
