TELECOMMUNICATION TARIFFS IN ARMENIA PROVE AMONG HIGHEST IN THE WORLD

ArmInfo. Armenia has entered the list of countries having the highest
telecommunication tariffs.
International Telecommunication Union report the average price of
a minute of local calls in Armenia is $0.11. Similar tariffs are in
other former countries of the USSR: Lithuania and Latvia. A minute of
local calls in Estonia is $0.09, in Moldova – $0.02, Russia, Ukraine,
Belarus, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – $0.01. Among top ten countries
having the highest telecommunication tariffs are also Central African
Republic, Faroe Islands, Azerbaijan – $0.29, Vanuatu, Djibouti,
Uruguay, and Great Britain – $0.17.
The three- minute local call was the most expensive in Ecuador –
$0.60 per minute. USA is on the 59th position by tariffs of local
calls – $0.09.
Cell-phones are most popular in Taiwan (106.45 phones per 100 people)
and Italy (101.34). Among the leaders are Luxembourg, Hong Kong,
Italy, Iceland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Finland, Great Britain and
Norway. USA, a country where the cellular communication was created,
occupies the 29th position (48.8).
