Dear Friends and Colleagues,
This year The "Hayastan" All-Armenian Fund (The Armenia Fund) celebrated her
15-th anniversary. Fifteen years of implementing projects so critical to the
social fabric and economic life in Armenia and Karabakh. During the past
fifteen years, more than 1,000 large and small projects have been completed,
affecting almost all spheres of life in cities and villages of Armenia and
Karabakh.
During the past fifteen years, The Fund has demonstrated its huge capacity
and ability in harnessing and bringing together of the enormous potential of
the Armenians living in homeland and the Diaspora. The produced synergy has
been successfully directed towards tackling the widest range of challenges
like building much needed infrastructure such as roads and highways,
drinking and irrigation water and gas lines, numerous schools and hospitals
and more. The net impact these projects have had on human life is
incalculable.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all Armenians around the
world, The "Hayastan" All-Armenian Fund’s local affiliates worldwide,
without whom it would have been impossible to achieve what the Fund has been
able to achieve, as well all those who helped make the Telethon 2007 a
success.
In 2007, The Armenia Fund embarked on implementation of The Rural
Development Program, aiming to eradicate rural poverty in Armenia and
Karabakh by offering technical and strategic support to border villages,
engaging the residents of the rural communities in determining their own
development path, thus enabling their sustainability and viability, and
strengthening Armenia’s geo-strategic and economic security.
The purpose is to improve a community’s social and economic well-being, by
upgrading infrastructure, offering technical assistance to agriculture-based
activities, and identifying alternatives to agriculture.
We can only succeed together.
I wish us all a happy new year. May 2008 be the most prosperous year yet for
Armenia and Karabakh.
Sincerely,
Vahe Aghabegians,
Executive Director
