Poll Shows Opposition Leader To Be Ahead Of Opponents

POLL SHOWS OPPOSITION LEADER TO BE AHEAD OF OPPONENTS

TBILISI, DECEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: A latest public opinion poll in
Georgia ahead of January 5 presidential election found that united
opposition’s candidate, Levan Gachechiladze, is the forefront
presidential runner, followed by Mikhail Saakashvili and Badri
Patarkatsishvili.

According to the findings of the poll, conducted by the Dialogue
for Democracy Development foundation on December 17-21, published
by Georgian media today, 22.1 percent of voters would vote for Levan
Gachechiladze, 20.3 percent for Mikhail Saakashvili and 19.1 percent
for Badri Patarkatsishvili.

Shalva Natelashvili, leader of the Labor Party, would garner only 6.5
percent of the votes and David Gamkrelidze, leader of the New Rights-
5 percent.
