Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister positive on creation of PACE
subcommittee on frozen conflicts

27 December 2007 [16:08] – Today.Az

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov supports creation of
subcommittee on frozen conflicts under the Council of Europe
Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).

He said creation of such a committee will promote unbiased view of
international organizations on conflicts.

"The Council of Europe is interested in the resolution of
Nagorno-Garabagh conflict, therefore, creation of such a committee
would be a benefit". He also mentioned that the settlement of the
conflict is a priority issue in the external policy of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the proposal to create a subcommittee on
frozen conflicts was put forward by Andres Herkel, co-rapporteur of
the Monitoring Committee for Azerbaijan.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
