HE DISTORTS TO BE IN THE CENTER OF ATTENTION
[07:06 pm] 27 December, 2007

`Levon Ter-Petrosyan distorts the reality and blames
the authorities, so that the authorities will respond
and he will appear in the center of everybody’s
attention, thus, differing from other opposition
leaders’. The Chairman of the RA NA Tigran Torosyan
reflected on Ter-Petrosyan’s unjust accusation.

Today `A1+’ tried to find out from the NA Chairman why
Serge Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan did not say where
148 million dollars were. Torosyan said that
Ter-Petrosyan’s accusations were groundless; facts
were distorted and had an advocating objective. `The
problem is not that Ter-Petrosyan has forgotten many
things, this is a well-though way of advocacy, so that
the authorities will respond and he will appear in the
center of everybody’s attention’. But the question
where 148 million dollars were remained not
elucidated.

To the question of `A1+’ whether the `Republican Party
of Armenia’ would collaborate with Levon Ter-Petrosyan
if the latter was elected or pursued impeachment
process, Tirgan Torosyan answered: `We will work with
the RA President, as we have done for many years, but
I am convinced that Ter-Petrosyan will not be
elected’.

Answering to our question regarding the conduction of
fair elections, or whether the authorities were not
going to fight against election frauds and punish
their perpetrators, Tigran Torosyan talked about the
amendments to the Electoral Code, about the productive
work of commissions, observers and international
structures, about the `splendid’ parliamentary
elections of 2007, absence of `rigging cases’ during
the parliamentary elections. Then he added: `We do not
find undertaking of other measures necessary’.

Then he appealed to everyone to be tolerant and was
surprised that everyone expected it from the
authorities.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
