NEW CIVIL MOVEMENT LAUNCHED

The Orinats Yerkir Party is participating in the presidential
election with a civil movement, stated the leader of the party Arthur
Baghdasaryan, a presidential candidate, in a news conference on
December 26. The civil movement, according to Arthur Baghdasaryan, is
organized for the sake of democracy, a politically and economically
strong and competitive state. `We propose turning on the clock of the
new start from 2008, which will put an end to cynicism and
arbitrariness,’ Arthur Baghdasaryan says.

`What does a civil movement mean? There are already about ten
thousand civil support groups which support us. The civil support
groups include people independent from their party affiliation
because these are not elections to parties. The election to the
president of Armenia refers to every compatriot, every family, and we
consider civil activity highly important in the presidential
election,’ says Arthur Baghdasaryan. He informed that each of the
approximately ten thousand groups includes 3-5 people, and the groups
were initiated by the citizens who support him.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
