JIRAIR SEFILYAN SUES ROBERT KOCHARYAN
Vahe Grigoryan, the attorney of Jirair Sefilyan serving sentence at
Vardashen Penitentiary, filed a civilian suit with the district court
of Center and Nork Marash communities of Yerevan on December 18 and
demands to repeal the acts by the official, which do not comply with
the Constitution and laws of Armenia, the committee of support for
Jirair Sefilyan and Vardan Malkhasyan reports.
The official is President Robert Kocharyan, the unconstitutional acts
are idleness. In particular, the president did not make a decision on
granting or refusing citizenship to Jirair Sefilyan and did not
respond to the applicant appropriately. Thereby he violated Article
14.2 of the Constitution, which provides for a simplified procedure
of granting citizenship to ethnic Armenians, as well as Article 55.15
and Article 49.2 of the Constitution and the law on citizenship.
Jirair Sefilyan demands that Robert Kocharyan address his
applications for citizenship in 2003 and 2005 and make a decision
which stems from Article 14.2 of the Constitution, runs the release
of the committee of support.
