/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Members of the parliamentary committee for the
investigation of the assassination of Agos editor Hrant Dink arrived in
Istanbul on Thursday to start probing statements on police negligence
in Dink’s murder. The delegation will move on to the Black Sea port
city of Trabzon, where the murder is supposed to have been planned.

There are many reports that the police forces were periodically
informed of the plotted murder, Today’s Zaman says.

Another investigation is also under way, headed by Parliament’s Human
Rights Committee.

The Anatolia News Agency said that a five-strong Turkish parliamentary
human rights committee held a meeting with Dink’s widow Rakel Dink,
brother Orhan, son Arat and lawyer of the Dink family.

"We have received information that will guide us in our
investigation. It was a fruitful meeting," said Mehmet Ocaktan,
chairman of the committee.

Hrant Dink was assassinated in Istanbul on 19 January 2007 by
ultranationalist Ogun Samast.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
