80 MILLION DRAMS TO BE ALLOCATED THIS YEAR FOR REPLENISHMENT OF ENDEMIC FISH TYPES IN LAKE SEVAN AGAINST 30 MILLION DRAMS IN 2007

YEREVAN, JANUARY 9, NOYAN TAPAN. 41 million drams (about 136.5
thousand USD) will be allocated in 2008 for measures to prevent the
negative impact in areas covered with water because of a rise in
the level of Lake Sevan. Areas of a total of 95 ha will be cleaned,
NT correspondent was informed by the PR unit of the RA ministry of
environmental protection.

80 million drams will be provided for replenishment of endemic fish
types of the lake. In 2007, 30 million drams was allocated for this
purpose.

84 thousand of young fishes weighing over 4 grams and 15,200 young
fishes weighing over 40 grams of the total cost of 20 million drams
were released into Lake Sevan in April 2007. Young trout fishes
weighing over 1.5 grams (59,400 Gegharkun trouts and 15,500 summer
trouts) were released in November.
