The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization
Nikolay Bordyuzha declared that the "Frontier-2008" military exercises
in Armenia scheduled for spring 2008 are in no way directed against
Azerbaijan.

"By taking the decision on the conduct of the military exercises,
we certainly take into consideration the whole complexity of the
situation in the Caucasus, and we have applied all efforts to make
Azerbaijan understand that these exercises are not directed against
it," Bordyuzha told a press conference in Moscow.

"I don’t think that Azerbaijan will negatively react to the conduct
of the military exercises. Certainly, the "Frontier-2008" is not
targeted at further sharpening of the complex situation," the CSTO
Secretary General said. He added that any state has the right to
hold arrangements on its territory directed at ensuring the country’s
security.

Mr. Bordyuzha said that observers from different countries will be
invited to the military exercises.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
