Before January 21st the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia will
officially register the candidates for RA presidency. No one has
officially registered until now. Instead, the CEC has registered
five local organizations that will observe the elections. The OSCE
Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR)
has also applied to carry out an observation mission.

The number of voters in Armenia has decreased with 7,805. To remind,
the number of electors during the parliamentary elections of May 2007
was 2,319,722.

According to the registry of the Passport and Visa Department of RA
Police submitted to the CEC, the number of voters currently totals
2,311,917.

Press Secretary of the Central Electoral Commission Tatev Ohanyan
told Radiolur that 1,923 polling stations have been created in the
republic, 442 of which will operate in Yerevan, the rest will be
opened in marzes. The number of the polling stations was the same
during the previous elections.

The CEC is currently considering the documents, and in case any
shortcomings are revealed, the candidate will be given 48 hours to
correct these.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
