Azerbaijan’s and Armenia’s intl significance is incomparable – Aliyev
BAKU Jan 11
While Armenia has lost its international authority, Azerbaijan has
strengthened its positions on the international arena, Azeri
President Ilham Aliyev said.
"We know what financial resources we will derive from selling oil and
natural gas, from our economic development and the development of our
industry. We are opening all ways and becoming a transit country. In
terms of energy, we are turning into an indispensable country for
Europe and the world," Aliyev said at an expanded government session
dealing with results of its work in 2007 and plans for 2008.
"But what can Armenia give to the international community? Nothing
-either from the political, or economic, or transport, or cultural
viewpoints," Aliyev said. "This is just a mono-state, from which all
other ethnic groups have been banished and which is existing as a
closed, militarized and antidemocratic regime," he said.
"As regards Nagorno-Karabakh, a criminal gang has seized that region,
in which a military-criminal and illegitimate regime has been
established and which knows no international monitoring whatsoever,"
Aliyev said.
