Araz Azimov: Co-chairs’ visit to Azerbaijan again depends on
negotiations in Armenia

[ 15 Jan 2008 16:37 ]

`The aim of co-chairs’ visit to Azerbaijan was to learn opinion of
the proposals presented in Madrid. These proposals are looked through
and we discussed these proposals with co-chairs yesterday,’ Araz
Azimov, Azerbaijani deputy Foreign Minister told the APA

Azimov mentioned that co-chairs are in Yerevan now and if it is
necessary they will visit Azerbaijan again after talks in Armenia.
`Co-chairs’ visit to Azerbaijan again depends on negotiations that
will be carried out in Armenia. If there is no need to it due to the
results of talks, co-chairs will not visit Baku and we will expect
till next visit,’ he said.
According to the speech of Azimov, debates on several issues should
be carried out. Azimov noted that several issues have not solved and
stated that Azerbaijan supports to carry talks.
Commenting on Mattew Bryza’s reports on achieving agreement till
elections, Azimov stated that he spoke to American co-chairs on this
issue.
`Co-chairs said that his speech has been misunderstood. The fact is
that, if the main agreement is achieved, this agreement will be
signed in written form. But the fact is that, any agreement has not
been achieved,’ he said. Azimov noted that agreement that will be
achieved any time is possible when issues opened for Azerbaijan were
clear. Azimov stated that Azerbaijan is not satisfied with several
points.
`It is clear that, Armenia is not satisfied with several points too.
Compromise should be of mutual character and Azerbaijan support the
settlement of issue basing on international norms,’ he said./APA/

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
