ACUSA VISITS THE ARMENIAN ELDERLY ON THE OCCASION OF THE NEW YEAR

The Armenian Church University Students Association (ACUSA) started 2008
with renewed vigor and as its first activity, it paid a humanitarian visit
to the National Home of the Elderly in Bourdj Hammoud.

A long-time tradition, this annual visit plays an important educational role
for the Armenian youth. Headed by the association’s spiritual adviser, Rev.
Mesrob Sarkisian, ACUSA members created great enthusiasm in the hearts of
those sheltered in the home of the elderly during their January 12 visit.

The student visited each room and conveyed to the elderly their
encouragement and well wishes for the New Year and on the occasion of
Christmas. The elderly received the youth with prayers and well wishes,
asking God to protect them and watch over their path.

ACUSA members also met with the Director and the staff of the institution
becoming more closely acquainted with its activities and role. They thanked
the managers and the Board of Trustees for making this beautiful venture
possible.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
