Yerevan /Mediamax/. Candidate for the position of the Armenian
President, Leader of "Orinats Yerkir" Party (OYP) Artur Baghdasarian
intends to deepen Armenia’s European policy in case of his victory
in the elections of February 19.

Mediamax reports that, speaking in Yerevan today during the
presentation of his pre-election campaign, Artur Baghdasarian stated
that "the future of our country is in the European family, in the
full membership of Armenia in the European Union".

"I have never talked and will not talk today either about Armenia’s
membership in NATO, but I consider it necessary to deepen and develop
the cooperation with the North-Atlantic Alliance, in particular,
concerning the Individual Partnership Action Plan, which had a
successful start", Leader of OYP stated, answering Mediamax’s question.

"Today we are in geopolitical conditions, which require carrying out
balanced and active foreign policy, development of relations with our
direct neighbors, especially with Georgia and Iran. It is necessary to
also take up efficient steps to improve the relations with Turkey. Our
neighbors are not our enemies", Artur Baghdasarian stated.

He also stated that the present foreign policy course of Armenia does
not meet the challenges of the time and it has lead to the isolation
of the country from a number of regional processes.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
