ARMENIA’S AGENCY FOR MEDICAL, SOCIAL EXAMINATION HAS 276 VISITS TO REMOTE REGIONS

YEREVAN, January 21. /ARKA/. The Agency for Medical and Social
Examination of Armenia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Issues organized
276 visits to the remote regions of the country. During the visits
978 people were examined with 399 of them recognized disabled, the
Head of the Agency Misha Vanian told a press conference.
The visits are made together with the local authorities to ensure
accessibility of medical and social examination for residents of the
remote areas, Vanian said.
Íe also reported that employees of the analytical department of
the agency had 23 visits to the regions and conducted seminars
and consultations to increase public awareness of the respective
legislation.
The Agency for Medical and Social Examination of the Ministry of Labor
and Social Issues was founded in 2002. The Agency has 53 regional
divisions throughout the country, with 3 of them being specialized
commissions on medical and social examination.
According to the Agency, 155,000 disabled people were recorded in
Armenia as of January 1 2008.
