150 OBSERVERS OF CIS MONITORING MISSION TO OBSERVE RA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

YEREVAN, JANUARY 24, NOYAN TAPAN. On January 24, Gegham Gharibjanian,
the RA Deputy Foreign Minister, received V. Garkun, the Deputy Chairman
of the CIS Executive Committee, who has arrived in Armenia on the
occasion of the start of the work of the CIS monitoring mission in
the RA presidential elections.

Attaching importance to the minitoring mission’s participation in
the elections, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed the readiness of the
RA authorities to hold free and transparent elections.

As NT was informed by the RA Foreign Ministry Press and Information
Department, speaking about the preelection processes and election
campaign in Armenia, V. Garkun said that he is impressed by the
transparency of the ongoing political processes and the possibilities
given by the legislation.

He also said that nearly 150 observers led by Alexander Lebedev, the
Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, will observe the elections
on the part of CIS.
