PACE BUREAU NOT CONSIDERING ISSUE OF POLITICAL PRISONERS IN AZERBAIJAN

The PACE Bureay held a session in the framework of the winter session
of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

In particular, it was planned to consider document No 11486 on Studying
the state of political prisoners in Azerbaijan, worked out by Cyprus
deputy Cristos Purgurudes.

Yet the issue has not been included into the agenda of the session.

Head of Azerbaijani delegation in PACE Samed Seidov announced that the
issue will never be discussed: "The said issue will never be discussed,
as this work is carried out by the Monitoring Committee. Any document
can be submitted to the Bureau. But is it necessary to discuss all
of them? The Bureau received only one document on Azerbaijan, which
has not been discussed.

The Bureau adopted another decision on Azerbaijan-activity of the
subcommittee on Nagorno Garabagh has been prolonged for another
1 year".
