Today the Armenian National Committee of America released a media
advisory, announcing its endorsement of Barack Obama, the Democratic
candidate in the Democratic primaries, who, according to the ANCA, "is
best positioned to bring fundamental change to how the United States
addressed issues of special concern to Armenian American voters."

"In a powerful statement issued on January 20th, Senator Obama voiced
his support for passage of the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H. Res.
106 & S. Res. 106) currently before Congress, and pledged that, as
President, he will recognize the Armenian Genocide. The Presidential
hopeful also reaffirmed his support for a strong "U.S.-American
relationship that advocates our common security and strengthens
Armenian democracy." He also pledged to "promote Armenian security by
seeking an end to the Turkish and Azerbaijani blockades, and by working
for a lasting and durable settlement of the Nagorno Karabagh conflict
that is agreeable to all parties, and based upon America’s founding
commitment to the principles of democracy and self-determination,"
runs the media advisory of the ANCA.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
