RA DEFENCE MINISTER RECEIVES CANADIAN CONSUL OF HONOR TO ARMENIA

YEREVAN, JANUARY 30, NOYAN TAPAN. On January 30, RA Defence Minister
Mikayel Haroutiunian received Artashes Emin, the Canadian Consul of
Honor to Armenia, on the occasion of introduction of Colonel Michel
Marcos, the newly appointed Military Attache of Canada to RA.
During the meeting the sides touched upon the reforms implemented in
the RA Armed Forces, in particular, the introduction of a special civil
service, issues of civil control and keeping the armed forces away
from political processes. The interlocutors mentioned the necessity
of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem.
As NT was informed by the RA Defence Ministry, a number of issues
concerning regional security and stability were also discussed at
the end of the meeting.
