Yerevan (Yerkir) – ARF presidential candidate Vahan Hovhannesian was
campaigning in Gegharkunik Region on January 31.

He was warmly welcomed in Vardenis, where Ruzan Arakelian, a member
of the ARF faction in parliament, said that the ARF would not be
where it is now if not for people like Vahan Hovhannesian. "He is
focusing on the role of the middle generation in his platform, so
that they do not leave the country and help build this country,"
she said. She said Hovhannesian has always fought for justice and
found himself in jail when defending his ideas.

Igor Sargsyan, a Karabakh war veteran and a member of the ARF Supreme
Body, said that people should think well before voting. "In that case,
I am sure, you will vote for Vahan Hovhannesian," he said. "Twenty
years ago, when part of our homeland was in Azerbaijan, Hovhannesian
was calling on people in Karabakh to take arms. After the war, he
was fighting in the political field for our homeland."

Hovhannesian said in his address that there is a lot of injustice
in the country. It is unfair that people have no jobs and are
deprived from the possibility to support their families with working
honestly. It is also unfair that people in mid-size business encounter
obstacles from monopolies and oligarchs. He said it is unfair that only
the capital is developing, and is developing only due to construction
and cafes.

"This region that had been producing bread and gold for centuries,
suffered because of unskillful privatization," he said. "If elected
president, I will review the results of the privatization."
