DARCHINYAN CONFIDENT OF DESTRUCTION

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 1, ARMENPRESS: Armenia-born Vic
Darchinyan has declared he will destroy and demolish Z
Gorres in their IBF world title eliminator in Cebu
City.
Former IBF and IBO flyweight world champion
Darchinyan (29-1 23 KOs) is rated fifth amongst the
IBF’s super flyweights, just one spot ahead of Gorres
(27-2-1 15 KOs).
The fight looms as a classic match-up between the
boxing skills of Gorres and the punching power of the
32-year-old Australian-Armenian, who is intent on
earning back the respect he lost by losing his
flyweight world titles to another Filipino, Nonito
Donaire.
"This is one of the most important fights of my
career, after I lost to a Filipino I’m fighting this
other Filipino who is very popular here," Darchinyan
was quoted as saying by news agencies.
The winner of the all-southpaw battle will earn the
right to challenge Russia’s IBF super flyweight world
champion Dimitri Kirilov.
